Santa Coloma de Gramenet hosts the International Volunteer Day 2018

On Saturday, November 24, the International Volunteer Day was celebrated in Santa Coloma, which is officially commemorated on December 5 around the world, to recognize the work of people who volunteer. On this occasion, the City Council of Santa Coloma de Gramenet has coordinated the event from the Punt de Voluntariat, making it coincide with the 25th volunteer awards ceremony of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The stage chosen for the occasion has been the emblematic Segarra theater in Santa Coloma. The Colombian actress Karme Hellín, who volunteers at a local entity, was the event's master of ceremonies.

In addition to the awards ceremony, people attending the event were able to enjoy the exhibition "Connect to volunteering", along with a sample of the actions of all the entities that make up the Volunteer Table, among which is Mundus Association.

The event began with the play "Vínculos", directed by Carme Vilar and performed by AMMAME (Associació d’Amics del Malalt Mental de Santa Coloma de Gramenet). Next, the institutional greeting gave way to the presentation of the Volunteer Agenda 2019 that symbolizes as a material result the work of the entities that work with volunteers in the locality. In this context, a representative of each entity took the stage to collect a diploma in recognition of the entity's work throughout 2018 and were presented with the agenda. The event ended with the awarding of the 2018 Volunteer Award to the Amics de la Gent Gran association, awarded this year, and with the reading of an emotional manifesto to recognize the work of the volunteers.

The Mundus Association collaborates permanently with the Sectorial Taula of the Volunteer of Santa Coloma de Gramenet together with other local entities. The objective is the creation of bonds between social entities of the municipality and the promotion of voluntary work, essential for the entities of the Third Sector. In this regard, Mundus welcomes volunteers from Europe every year, mainly with the European Voluntary Service program funded by the European Commission. Similarly, it sends volunteers from all over Spain to other European countries to carry out short and long-term volunteer projects under the same program.
